A3 closure from 20 to 23 June
National Highways is planning to close the A3 in both directions from 9pm Friday 20 June to 6am Monday 23 June between Junction 10 and Painshill Roundabout/A245. This is the same section that was closed in April 2025.
More details and diversion information will be announced on the National Highways website nearer the date of this closure.
A3 contraflow
A contraflow was installed by National Highways on the A3 between the Ockham Park roundabout and the M25 Junction 10 Wisley Interchange last month.
The change is to maintain three lanes running in both directions on the dual carriageway while works continue. The contraflow is expected to be in place until the end of the year. It will be important for drivers to be in the right lane as they approach the contraflow.
On the northbound carriageway, there will be three lanes for northbound traffic and one lane for southbound traffic.
- The inside lane is for traffic wishing to join the M25 in either direction
- The middle lane is for all traffic wishing to remain on the A3
- The outside lane is for all non-Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) traffic wishing to remain on the A3. HGVs are not permitted to use the outside lane due to width restrictions.
On the southbound carriageway, there will be two running lanes. After the M25 junction 10 exit slip:
- The inside lane will be all traffic. HGV drivers or those wishing to exit the A3 at the Ockham Park roundabout (for RHS Wisley or Ripley) must use the inside lane. Traffic entering the contraflow from the outside lane won’t be able to exit at Ockham.
- The outside lane will cross over into the contraflow lane on the northbound carriageway. HGVs are not permitted within the contraflow due to width restrictions. Traffic within the contraflow will not be able to exit the A3 at the Ockham Park Roundabout.
- Drivers joining the southbound A3 from the M25, will join the carriageway as normal.
