Area ensembles

How to apply and become a member?

If you play an instrument why not join an ensemble to improve your playing, meet new friends and have some incredible times. Our area ensembles offer a wide range of opportunities from beginner level upwards. All ensembles listed highlight what grades you need to have achieved or play at, in order to join.

Membership to ensembles is open to children and young people up to the age of 18.

Playing in an ensemble can help boost development in techniques and skills learnt in lessons which are reinforced during group rehearsals and have fun and make new friends forming long lasting friendships with like-minded musicians.

Our ensembles start in September each year and run term time only, although you can become a member anytime during the school year. They rehearse once a week in schools or music centres and perform a number of times each year in schools and professional venues.

Saturday area centre ensembles rehearsal dates (week day rehearsals may start earlier):

  • Autumn term: 12 weeks: 7 September to 7 December 2024
  • Spring term: 10 weeks: 11 January to 29 March 2025
  • Summer term 11 weeks: 22 April to 21 July 2025

You can apply online to become a member of an area ensemble, please see below for a list of area ensembles in ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ and a link to apply online.

The cost of membership is £84.70 per term (2024 to 2025). The cost also entitles members to take part in other area ensembles at no extra cost

Before applying please read our ensemble membership information. If you require more information, please contact ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ Arts.
