Practical Nutrition - Ditch the Jar - easy sauces & dips

Course intent

Learn to create delicious, nutrient-packed salad dressings, sauces, dips, and pâtés. Discover how to swap processed condiments for home-made alternatives that are easy to prepare, packed with nutrients, and full of taste. As we create these home-made sauces we will be learning about the medicinal properties of the ingredients and how they can boost your health and wellbeing.

What will I learn?

During this 3-week practical nutrition course you will learn how to prepare the following sauces, dips, marinates, and pates, using fresh ingredients with many different herbs and spices.

Week 1:

  • Miso Magic Dressing
  • Golden Signature Salad Dressing

Week 2:

  • Tropical Tomato Marinade
  • Mother Nature’s Mushroom Sauce

Week 3:

  • Velvety Egg & Herb Pate
  • Raw Walnut Salsa

Your tutor, Louise is Registered Nutritional Therapist with a passion for bringing nutrient packed food into everyday cooking.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

The Course welcomes everyone.

You will need to supply:

  • A container (2 per class approx 500ml each) to bring your sauces home with you.

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    Please ensure you have completed the following before the first session:

  • You will be emailed a workbook. It will outline the ingredients & resources you need to bring and those that will be supplied.
  • Inform adultlearning@surreycc.gov.uk if you need any adaptations to the recipes.
  • A container to take your dish(es) home

    What can I do when I finish the course?

    We offer a range of culinary workshops and courses throughout the term, look at our website for all the details. It would be great to see you again.

    We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
